| [ DETAILS OF MY ACTIVITIES - Resident works - ] | ||||
DETAIL OF MY WORKS :I start working on my artworks by researching the characteristics of a place and it will turn out as a project type artwork taking a form of public programs and/or installations. I have done the following art project in Yokohama. In Yokohama, there are a lot of people from Asian countries. Among such Asian people, the biggest group is Chinese, next is Koreans, followed by Filipinos, and Thai with 1,477(enrollment) of them living in Yokohama. In the island nation, there aren't many foreign people and the recent increase of Asian people can sometimes be taken as causes of unrest. It is because communities of such foreign people tend to be far from the areas where Japanese people live; therefore, they seem to be hard to see and understand at times. I named this phenomenon "Asian Internationalization in a Japanese city" and performed an art project titled "Thai Bridal Training Project in Yokohama" through which I turned the social situations in Japan that tend to be taken as rather negative into artworks filled with humour. |
